A True Taste of Gear Acquisition Syndrome
Currently, I’m looking at three flagship cameras on my desk… different decades, but no matter, it is what it is. All of these… well, at least two of them, have been used to document the world. A Nikon F3 at its peak. A Nikon D4 in digital at its peak. Now I hold in my possession the Nikon Z8, the true future of photography. A mirrorless camera that is the first without a mechanical shutter and live screen blackout-free… it’s mind-blowing tech.
I own all of this history waiting for me to draft a page of my own, to add to the legacy of those who shot with this legendary brand… most notably to me, my father, which is why I went down this path and entered the craft of photography.
Many are called, but few are chosen. My place in the story is written, even though I haven’t gotten to its later chapters. The one thing is my stomach telling me to get a Leica M or something, but the brain says we have all we need… go create something, document your existence, and most importantly share what you have seen. Bring people on the journey with you. Release the gas, fuel the vehicle of discovery through your lens.
You have enough now… be.
